Free Spirit hi s 2 lb barbel

To my simple mind, using the su seeker along side a torrix suggested to me that the seeker was dramatically quicker to wrap round than the torr. In fact it was the speed of movement which I found disconcerting
The su seeker is a true through action rod, lovely to play fish with, and I also found with heavy feeder/lead, it is casting better than torrix. I almost caught everything swim in the Thames with it, except barbel. The torrix is a true specimen rod, more like a progressive through action rod, soft in the tip but with a very strong butt section, it stops a double figure barbel easily.

Hi S about to trumped by Hi Q . . .will be interesting to see whether they create a specialist range
Hi Chris. Your report was spot on. There are 5 in the new range, starting at 800, all top end carp. Apparently the blank is both thinner and lighter than the current hi s. Specialist range versions starting for barbel at around 750 will be about a year away so something to look forward to and allow time to arrange a remortgage.

Yes - presumably the full cork and additional top section ups the price on the Helical Specialist
Not the ones I looked at Chris. Frankly I only ever look at rods with cork handles. Don't like abbreviated ones. I have one but its a sportex carp which I bought for its wonderful filigree green blank markings. I look at it maybe once a month and use once a year! But I was reading prices off a list so you could well be right.

The Walkers version on Huanzhou's link is 12' 1.75 twin tip / full cork etc - £119

Anyone spending seriously contemplating spending £800 on a single carbon rod would be better advised to spend that money on getting their hard drive looked at!

Looked at the new hi s float rods today with rich Issacs at Benwick sports awesome rods looked at the 13ft 15ft and 17ft ….. I was particularly taken with the 13 ft 2 piece an absolutely superb rod with lots of power …

Very nice comprehensive range we all agreed.
The 13 footer is a peach and all of them have had some weight removed which is nice.

Claim as they want, the blanks are not the same as the originals. They are wider diameter at the butt section.
They are also slightly softer in the top 2/3 of the rod.
But they are fantastic and not going to disappoint anyone. They’ll land anything that swims in the river Trent.

How do you feel about the 15ft?

Yes, looked at their site before. Serious wedge

Yeah that what Terry said. It has slightly less resistance to bend I felt but was very difficult to make a perfect comparison without them being side by side. Definitely felt a bit softer.
Not as slim infront of the handle as well but really nice rods.
Guides are an improvement because they stand a little further off the blank.
There’s no chunky stainless caps or collars and the whole rod does feel a bit lighter.
