Fishless will remember one Ribble flood when I lobbed 8oz out a rod length or two only to have it skipping on the surface within a few seconds such was the force of the water! Wrong peg . . .
I have used 8oz on a small river where the flow in a flood turns a corner.
You would think due to the turbulence there that a barbel wouldn't be able to hold there but my catch record there is excellent. Barbel fishing is not always 3 swan shot and feeling for bites it can be hard core and demanding.
