Fox specialist brolly problem

Gerry Giles

I have one of the above thats not been used for a couple of years and as you know to erect or collapse it it relies on a sort of tension
well it could due to my illness and lack of strength but I had terrible trouble trying to collapse it in my garden today and was thinking oh just give it a squirt of WD40 or maybe a silicon spray ?

but I remember making the mistake of doing this on a lock once it properly messed it up

so just checking anyone had this problem ? and did WD40 fix it ??? 👍 👎

I don't know the mechanism so can't actually help Gerry, but just to remind that WD40 is not a lubricant

Seem to remember similar problem with my little used 45 Specialist Fox and there was a knack to it, requiring a firm downward push.

Cheers
Bob

Hey Gerry - (small world lol) Mine has been stiff from new . . .does need force to collapse it - always slightly disconcerting when you do but assume its the tension in the ribs themselves?

it Is mate hope your well :) I think its just down to my lack of strength due to my illness I never used to have a problem with it ? so the chemo should work its magic soon and I will get me muscles back again
