For those that don’t know Fox started wrapping carbon rods in Kevlar in the very early 2000’s
It was started with the predators and a carp rod I believe then it went into the specialist rods the kevlex and the Kevlars.
Baring colour and test curve differences the blank manufacturing process I’m certain was the same across the range.
In my opinion it was probably overkill because Kevlar is like woven steel. The strength and abrasion properties are way higher than carbon on its own. You can’t cut this stuff with a Stanley blade.
On the plus side it made these fishing rods absolutely bomb proof.
The kevlex 001 was the best barbel rod in the fox range. It was back then and it still is now by a mile.
They gave it the best most useful range of test curves, quiver tips and the best reel seat.
The action if you’ve never seen it is remarkable to play big barbel on.
I’m offering an exceptional example of one for sale. It’s in absolutely stellar condition, very lightly used and you’d be hard pushed to find a nicer one. 9.7/10 even the male joint looks too clean for its age.
There’s a Little wear to the paint on the reel seat collar and a very very hard to find professional fill job been done to a tiny (1-2mm) chip on the epoxy on the butt section.
Other than that ……. Immaculate!
All sections are there all tips are there. No damage or modification whatsoever it’s in collectors condition and the value is only ever going to go up. Original bag (mint) and quiver tube included. These have 5 tips that work lovely with the carry section making the rod perfect for upstreaming, long range feeder fishing and sensitive bite detection.
There’s the two Avon tips too 1.5 and 1.75.
The 1.5lb is about right I think the 1.75 is underrated and probably closer to 2lb.
I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking.
£290.00 ovno. (You’ll struggle to find another like this)
I won’t post it but contact me if your interested because I literally drive all over the place and meeting up locally is often easy arranged.
Edit…. Im working in Ireland this week. You can of course put your name on it but as for getting hold of it that would have to be from the weekend onwards.
Thanks
Rich
