just picked up a cheap Fox Duo Lite Barbel Xtra 2 Piece 12ft 1.75lb rod. Might not get the chance to use it this season, so I was wondering if anyone has this rod whats the max you can cast with it.

How far do you want to cast? With an appropriately spooled reel I would have thought 80+ yards would be simple enough with braid & 2.5 oz lead.

I have used 6oz in some instances 1.75 test rods - more of a side swing & neither that elegant nor too far. Have a play down the local field, canal or lake!

It's going to depend on the weight you want to cast, how far you are trying to cast, the line you are using, the reels you are using and on your casting style.

You should be fine gently lobbing 6oz short distances but if you want to cast that same 6oz any distance then you'll be severely pushing your luck.
