Folding shovel

sorry guys I disagree with you as the 2 I've had over the years have been puka army ones and they just haven't lasted

In case any one's interested the tool station one in the latest catalogue is £4.93 and before any one asks I have no connection with that company what so ever

That will be the british ones then steve..not worth a tuppence, the German ones Ive smashed against the side of armoured vehicles in frustration and the bloody things still havent broken....:) Vorsprung Technic:D

One point I'd like to mention on a delicate matter  why is it that when an angler needs to answer a pressing call of nature that they do it on the river bank? Here, on the Wye, I've been offended by a multitude of misplaced doo doo when there are hedges and trees all around the field that offer better protection from canoeists and are not stopping me from getting into a favoured swim.

Chaps, if the need is pressing - point yer bum elsewhere!

There, I've said it :)

It's not always the anglers Dave I had a present from a Wye and Usk Foundation worker left in my favourite swim. Maybe the Giant Hogweed weed spray has strange side effects (as that's what he was there to do).

I've had one of the 'inferior' ones for years and its been used to extract a stuck car and latterly to break ice! Just the job for the boot of the car.

Could be a couple of reason Dave, it might not be appropriate to leave your gear unnatended. Can you imaging walking back from the bushes after crimping a cable off and finding all your gear has been nicked? Sometimes as well said cable can land a lot quicker than you thought not allowing enough time to make it to the dump zone.....

I do try and take care of these things before leaving home...

Take a dump on the shovel then artfully flick it into the water, out of sight is out of mind! Works for the water treatment companies;):D I don't own a shovel BTW.;)

If I did own a folding shovel it would either be a German Army or a Gerber, despite being able to get a British Forces one for nowt.;)

Excellent :D Perhaps aim it at the nearest otter....:D

you sure you know what a shovel is in your branch of the services Chris...lol:D:D

I'm afraid so, George. Annoying when you join this particular mob to avoid such nonsense but end up digging slit trenches anyway.;):D
The buggers have made me bob around the Solent in a rusting tub with a bunch of suspiciously camply dressed blokes too.

And if chucked high enough, could become the fisherman's "mortar". The answer to those pleasure boats that mindlessly plough through your swim. Perhaps one of the tackle manufacturer's could develop the equivalent of a throwing stick.

A few years ago a fellow carper from down my way tried to market a compressed air boilie launching gun, which failed because it was deemed not to meet safety regulations etc. (something that could kill someone on the far bank was never going to work :p).....but think what you could do with that and a shovel of s**t :D:D

Cheers, Dave.

About six months if I'm lucky and back in the UK. Less than two months if you mean that travesty that passes for summer down there.:D
