Fly Fishing For Barbel

Those Spanish barbel are far more predatory than barbus barbus.

I believe Mathew Hand used to have a few to the fly over here though............. Whatever happened to him?

If weather and warmer levels permit I am really going to give it a try. A friend used to use a fly rod for barbel at Penton Hook in the 60s and had great fun he was not fly fishing bit free lining worm or sausage.

They went ver well.

Sorry chaps but the test curves did not even approach 2 lbs.

It is all about balanced tackle, holding the rod and fishing for barbel not carp!

If you mean he who produced some wonderfully ornamented rods, he's now retired and living somewhere in mid-Wales, down Llandovery way.
