Float visibility

As I age my floats seem to get dimmer and I struggle and strain my eyes to see them.
Obviously in years gone by a black marker or tippex could be used in different light conditions and this set me off thinking could you use say a latex tubing to slide over the tip or even some shrink wrap (which comes in varying colours) which could also thicken the tip slightly. Any other thoughts and tips greatly received.
Regards Clive

Clive, you could look at getting some floats with interchangable sight tips. You can paint one black.....etc etc and have them in your pocket so you can swap them as and when you fancy.
If you check out my vid on youtube I show some of the floats sold on here. I can vouch for the floats, they are excellent!
Andrew Burt sells them so it would be well worth you contacting him 👍.

On the BAA forums this very subject came up this week. A very respected match angler was having problems seeing his waggler far bank. He eventually tried some silver foil from his Kit Kat wrapper, scrunched it up to form multiple mirroring, rolled it and secured a piece to the tip of float with float rubbers.
Apparently it worked a treat.😎

Clive I do a lot of long trotting and 60-70 yards is common sometimes and i really struggle with conventional float tips.

What I do with floats I like is just change the antenna for something more visible

All the harrel floats are balsa wood. You can swap out the antennas in them dead easily

Same with closed cell foam bodies. I just use the 5mm and 6mm hollow painted tips. Doctored loads of my floats now.

Neil who are you on the BAA 🙄forum of doooooom 😂👍👍

Andy Burt's on here are some of the best ever with interchangeable tips.
And Richards(Issacs innovations) are also excellent.
He went out the way for me and made up a special batch of painted black tips coz I really struggle with yer usual bright colours during the day.

Do you keep the pink for friday nights Terry 😁
There actually was a point not too long ago (shamefully before I started making them aswell) when I had over 1000 floats. It was a ridiculous amount really but there was a couple of wagglers in amongst that lot that had fluro pink tops.

I gave a huge load away to various people mostly young lads and got myself down to a half sensible number again.
I’m pretty sure I had one or two with fluro blue tops as well. Totally pointless really but there you go. 😂

Pretty sure the colour blindness element plays a part somewhere.
I think preston included some pink tips.
