Float rod for Trent barbel

For those that might not know
The 3 common seats offered from Fuji shown here

On the right DPS. does not belong on any float rod imo. No body wants to be gripping threads all day. Brilliant seats for specialist rods that are sat in rests. I will be changing this one when I get to it.

Middle is most common. KDPS. Found on accys, normarks, alot of mavers etc etc. your still gripping seat but it’s much more comfortable than threads. These are still double hooded but screw down.

Left is IPS. most comfortable of the lot and most expensive too hence why not as common. Normark went through a phase of using them on later Titan and avenger 2000/3000’s
The thing with these is they only have 1 hood. The rest of the seat is cork or duplon depending on your preference.

I’ve got one of the TSi rods too and confirm it is light and powerful with a very comfortable reel seat. Not had it long and barely fished with it yet so can’t/won’t comment on how it fishes. The only slight gripe I have is that because the handle is short, the overall feel is a bit top heavy. It’s not awful though, but you wouldn’t want your lightest reel on it.

I agree Alan, Ive never weighed mine but was surprised when Richard informed me how light it was as it doesn't feel that way when in use imo.

As I respect the opinion of those who post on here I went on a search of the tinter to see if I could learn anything about the TFG TSi rods and if they were in fact still available. But I came up with very little information on them and was left wondering if they were in fact a discontinued product?
But please if anybody knows different do enlighten me.

The daiwa Dave Harrell RS PF rods I have have a similar fuji reel holder but have a duplon section above and below were you grip the handle, the duplon is shaped really nice and is comfy to hold.

Andy, yes these rods are discontinued, I'm guessing they were first released around 2009 with a RRP of £330 I believe although they were sold at a discount.

Are these TSI rods out of the same range as the tremor barbel rods (I'm sure they were called Tremor rods)?
I remember a friend of mine getting a pair of TFG Tremor barbel rods and he was smitten with them. The rrp was quite a lot of money same as the TSI float rods.
We all kind'a poo' pooed them because they were TFG.
I think they were reputed to be free spirit blanks?

sorry Ian, I don't know ?

Everyone did. Tfg tried to make something high end and succeeded with the product but the problem was the fact it carried the tfg name.
They sold very few and as Cliff said they knocked the remaining stock out cheap to get shot.

Ignore the name and it’s actually a beautiful rod
Very well built and very acolyte like in respect of power and weight. Was never going to be a winner though. Too many bad eggs in tfg product range.

Yeah that’s it. IPs reel seats. Really comfortable to hold just above the reel.

I wish they had used the same duplon as browning did on the spheres, it seems to go shinny after only a few uses no matter how clean you keep it!
Chris told me the sphere handles were EVA which is more durable than duplon
Makes sence I suppose as they didn’t fit them with back caps.
