Fixing isotopes

I've picked up a couple of small isotopes with the intention of attaching them to my reel seats in a similar fashion to the free spirit hi s rods

I have borrowed a dremmel tool with various cutting attachments, all I need now is the correct glue to secure them

What would be the best product to use ?
 
Try clear silicone,it offers some protection and doesn't damage the glass bodies.Make the recess a little larger than the isotope,put in the silicone and then carefully push in the isotope so that it's just below the reel seat and then smooth the silicone leaving a little of the glass exposed or cover with a very thin film as the isotope will glow through and at the same time be protected.
 
Stuart without any agenda why the rod handles, seldom have i seen a need for finding the handle in the dark mate, but if its what you want get some clear latex tubing slip it over the isotope and try araldite rapid to stick it down on the back of your reel seats
 
I had a pair of the Free Spirit Hi-s rods with the isotopes but to be honest I did'nt see the point. I've now got a pair of the Free Spirit "Spirit Barbels" the reel seat has the groove just like the Hi-s but I've not even entertained the idea of putting isotopes in there. They are nice to look at but when that tip hoops round I dont need an isotope on the reel seat to find my rod.
 
I tried a dab of superglue with mine, but for me personally they became a distraction from the tip so i removed them with out doing any damage.

Out of interest what's your take on the Spirit Barbel Rods? I'm lead to believe that it is the same blank as the old Spirit Specialist....is it the 1.75lb TC you have ?
 
It is the 1.75 I have Bill. I don't know if its the same blank as the old specialist or not but what I will say is that the Spirit Barbel has quite a long handle more akin to a specialist rod in my opinion than a barbel rod. The handles are the same lenth as the Hi-s specialist but the blank is stiffer than the Hi-s which I prefure. They are a bit bigger diameter too but the action suits me better for barbel fishing.
 
Many thanks for your comments Stephen...you were ticking all my boxes with one exception! I'm not a great lover of long handles, I can't see the point of having 6 inches hanging behind my elbow if that is the case. I would rather they be at the top ! I believe my local tackle shop, now part of the Angling Direct chain stocks FS Rods. I'll get in with my tape measure over the next few days...:p

My thoughts too Bill. I would rather have the extra out front but that said I dont find it a problem. Its been suggested that the FS Spirit Barbel and the FS Spirit Specialist are the same rod just different lettering. Who Knows. I do know they are nice rods to play a nice barbel on. Some on here said to me " Go and have a look don't let the handle put you off " I'm very glad I did and suggest you do the same Bill. I've just been and measured one. full lenth of handle 24" rell stem to end of butt 22.5".
I'm off to the Derwent later to see if I can find one before the colder snap comes.
