fishing lobworm

morning, i’m arrived at the wye last night, where the rivers dropped about 2 mtrs ( it’s still very high) it was too dangerous due to slippery silt and mud to set up and fish in the dark, so i went lobworm hunting.
any advice on hooking them , or fishing a couple on a hair ?
any advice would be appreciated.
i’ve got ice grippers for my boots so im going to have a go this morning.

Weather dependant, and last night in Yorkshire was perfect, had been wet but very mild, they come to the surface and are particularly attainable from lawns and cricket fields. You need stealth and reactions of a ninja to pick them off but practice makes it easier. Had one off my lawn last week and it was that big it fully masked a size 8. Like a baby's arm it was

I use long a shank hook size 6, 2 lobworms, hook each one twice through towards each end of worm, cut through middle of each worm with scissors to release scent and secure on hook with either plastic maggot or small piece of wide, soft rubber band.

Superb hair in tight conditions, I tend to just hook 2 or 3 through the saddle on a large hook, then nip the tail ends off and hook those too - lovely scent trail. Key IMO is not to keep them stationary for too long, twitch them every couple of minutes to trundle them downstream a bit. The takes are savage!!

thank you gents . i’ve had 4 fish in 4 chucks on meat ,first a barbs, then decent chub . i’ll give the lobs a go in a mo .
and seen a kingfisher 3 times. what a great morning

Through the saddle is traditional but just generally bung 'em on a a largish hook. Finesse not required.

I generally use a size 6 hook, with the hook through the worm’s saddle. I then add a drennan artificial red maggot on the hook, by just about hooking it. They grip the hook wire really tightly and it allows you to push the worm to the back of the hook bend, where it stays put

Hi Craig, try this out, I use a caster band, and a pellet bander, then pull a doubled up lob near to the saddle using a baiting needle through the lobby, then hook the band!.... If you're swim is clear of weed and debris, it's a great way of presenting lobby's, it's almost like a hair, but never comes off...
