Has anybody signed up to Mr Bowlers Fishflix? What are your views of it? I have found it of great quality and very interesting for the Barbel angler.

Are you restricted to watching it on your phone/tablet, or can you actually get it onto your TV? I know that Apple is quite restrictive in this respect, for their devices, as they expect a cut £££

I don’t have an answer to your question but if you want to watch something on a large screen you could always get a Chromecast.

I may well be late to the party with this and sorry if its been done to death?! I'm not one to fling mud but in light of recent discovers about Mr Bowle. Certain antics with regards filming barbel fishing on the wye and what he has seemingly done for the cameras I've stopped following his content personally. A real shame as I used to really enjoy so much of his productions however I cannot based of what I've seen read and heard.

You can watch it on your TV, depending on your setup. You can play it on your phone/tablet and use screen mirroring to play on your TV or play on a laptop/PC and connect via a HDMI cable.

You can also try directly via the browser on your TV but it probably won’t work as TV browsers are generally 💩

Agreed unfortunately. The icing on the cake for me is all the clips of pike fishing I keep seeing, on a stretch of river where the members are told they are not allowed to pike fish. Paying £200+ membership to then pay extra to watch someone catching pike I can't fish for would be self harm 😂 The 'names' love saying they don't get that many perks but having 2+ exclusive miles of the best piking on the Wye certainly stinks when there's paying members. My mate had a 20+ try to swallow a 4lb barbel on the way in.

Hi Christian

Without wanting to get into any “tit for tat” discussions on this, I would suggest if you aren’t a paid up member you may possibly need to get your facts right, before you start “mud slinging” which rightly or wrongly Martin Bowler has had plenty of recently.

I am a paid up member of Fish Flix and the only specialist pike video on there presently is a video of pike fishing on a lake. (I can’t refer to the catching the impossible films, but those are a historic series)

I wouldn’t normally pay for content like this, but I did, partly as something to focus on fishing wise during the long winter. I’ve got say the filming is fantastic, lovely well crafted countryside films which give a “proper feel” of fishing and the natural world. This make a nice change to the increasingly fast paced, drum and bass addled modern videos with tracksuit and trainer clad anglers produced elsewhere!

There’s also some interviews, which being a fishing geek, I find really interesting and these also make a really nice and interesting change from most fishing films.

I do ultimately agree though that “celebrity anglers” shouldn’t be given special preference on tactics that other members are banned from doing. But as stated the current pike video on fishflix is on a lake and not the Wye.

Hi Tom

Fair enough, I've just distanced myself from being exposed to it all on social media in an attempt to stop my bitterness. There's been a good bit of drone flying down there though so I can only assume there will be a video up once a big one gets caught. Anyway as you said, I'm not a paid up member and perhaps jumped the gun slightly. The justification still stands for me though, whether it's paying to watch a video or paying for it to be produced.

I've no doubt the videos are beautiful to watch and good value. I've loved all the MB productions in the past.

To be fair Christian, if someone pays for membership in the full knowledge that piking isn't allowed, then do they really have the right to complain? I can well understand why a fishery owner may want to restrict piking. They are such delicate fish in the main, and they really don't handle angling pressure well do they?

And I don't blame MB for fishing there. Would you turn the opportunity down ?

Yes, I would turn it down, live by the sword die by the sword and all that. It's one thing having it banned, another having it banned but putting videos of someone else doing it all over social media. I won't rejoin on that basis, to me a well run club has the same rules for everyone. I might be the only person stupid enough to mention it on social media but almost everyone I've met on the bank has grumbled to me about it without me bringing it up.

Edit - I am also not judging MB on whether he wants to make the most of that opportunity, we don't all have to have the same moral compass. I just don't want to pay towards it, which I think is also fair enough.

I shouldn't have got involved in the negative chat about it but like someone on the school playground couldn't help myself once someone had said something. I didn't intend to get involved in commenting on the thread at all as I didn't have anything constructive to say. I will have to make more of an effort to refrain in the future as the negativity is all pointless really.

I'm guessing we are referring to the Biblins.

Personally I would be very upset if I paid for syndicate access, and found out that others could have greater fishing freedoms.

Yes it would be rubbish to have rules suddenly changed, but if you knew that was the situation before you joined and paid up then you couldn't have any complaint could you?

Are you a Tory, Joe?

Hi Joe, when I signed it up it didn’t say, ‘No pike fishing but MB and lease holder will be down there catching pike, making videos, creaming the easy fishing and posting it on social media’. Naive maybe, but I try not to think the worst of people until I have a reason to. It said no pike fishing. As I said, I’m not keen on one rule for the bulk of the paying members and another for rest. I wouldn’t be keen on that in any other aspect of life so it’s no different in fishing. Thankfully there’s a lot of other places to fish.

I get where you are coming from Christian. The point I'm making is that I can understand a fishery owner restricting the levels of pike fishing. We've all seen good piking spots suddenly ruined by angling pressure, even moderately so. In principle is it any different to those rivers where the salmon fishing is restricted?

Anyone, good you have other options.

BTW, my comment to Graham wasn't specifically about you expectations.
