Fisherman's Blues

Ian Hugo Arnott

Senior Member
Happened to catch Nigel Botherway sitting in for dear Keith Arthur this morning. One caller discussed trends in barbel fishing. He said that he found that in southern rivers the use of heavy leads and strong lines was proving to be less and less successful and that float fishing was the most effective method. He felt that fish were easily spooked by ' current ' techniques and that a return to lighter tackle might be an answer......

People like Hugo, Keith, Mike and myself have long known that you have to be capable of doing most things pretty damned well and that the Dedicated Follower of Fashion, impatient, I want it now (foot stamp, minor / major tantrum), Meeja Men are, to a planet-sized ego, slow to cotton on to this.

Have just clicked on the link and and nothing happens :(

If you right click one of the sound periods (6.00-6.30 for the barbel conversation), open in new window, in file download box click save, choose location of your choice, download file then play with windows media player (if that is your media player by default choice).

IT experts may have a work round solution to this so that you can play direct.

Ian (Hugo),

Great to hear you are back on the ascendancy.......

Regarding theory, I have always said that you old codgers will always know more than us young squirts ;)
