First day of the close....

along with the bitter tears of no river fishing for 3 months but aint the anticipation and buildup for the new season great:):)

This evening cleaned and bagged the FS 1.75's,
Okuma 40's cleaned and will be serviced in May.
The FS 2.25's will be used for small pond carp fishing, until my syndicate fishing kicks in later.
Hexagraphs rerigged for Carp,

I have wiped the memory of a bitter winter - only brightened by the Perch fishing.
Rivers will hardly reappear in my thoughts until May time and not before.
- the complete reverse of what Chris Yates describes on moving to river fishing as washing the sediment away
- I need to accumulate a bit of that stuff now.
Over and out until then.....

I quite enjoy the close season, well the first couple of weeks anyway.

Allows you time to reflect, take stock and draw a line under the previous seasons graft.

It's almost a relief to stop thinking constantly about fishing and stop studying every weather forecast like it's the last. This Winter, like the two before it, has proved to be a real pain and I spent little time on the bank.

Time to strip the rods down, clean everything, re spool, re stock and re rig the rods in anticipation of some still water perch and tench fishing, once it warms up.

Have already had a tidy of my tackle store and got bait on order.

Duncan.

I think allot of people finished early this year, I spent the afternoon and evening of the 14th on what is usually a very busy stretch of the Dove fully expecting it to be rammed, I never saw another angler all day, it was deserted. I even phoned my wife to check the date in case I had got it wrong.
