Extras

Fishing for Roach yesterday and noticed the first two Barbel I caught both had extra Barbules, The other Barbel I caught were all normal. I would not have noticed the 'extras' if I was not looking down into the landing net in the river. Once out on the unhooking mat they seemed to blend all into one. I know there was thought in the past of Luncheon meat causing the extras. There was another BFW member Ian fishing the section and we both thought it possible the barbules had been hooked causing new branches.

I’m sure years ago i recall Fred crouch mentioning this to my father

Ray Walton and Fred Crouch were on the tele talking about how the luncheon meat effected the barbel's barbules!

I swear it even led to a reduction in offal products going into the meat.

A couple of koi in my pond have extra barbules and I have caught carp with extra an barbule ON an extra barbule
