Evidence of predation of fish

"Hey" (as the Yanks say on all the unaccountably must-see and inevitably have-to-talk-about television, here), "it happens...."
 
My last visit to the Derwent saw an unusual experience. I was fishing quietly when a homemade boat appeared from upstream of me, the occupant landed nearby and engaged me in conversation. The pike were his favourite eating fish, and there were not so many left in this stretch now. He was also happy to tell me that the club water I was fishing was in fact open to anybody who wanted to fish - no need for a yearbook! After 20 minutes of this he headed back upstream - the times are definately a changing!
