I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,my family and I came down here to Manila Philippines for a short trip unfortunately we got mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all cash, card and mobile phone were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping the issues at all and our return flight leaves in few hours from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills,

I'm freaked out at the moment and i need your urgent help.

End.........................

I honestly doubt that this is real, well I certainly hope it isnt, does anyone have any way of contacting Paul, to either let him know that his accounts been hacked or to make sure he's ok?

it came from this account - Paul Fisk <fiskysfantasticfeeders@hotmail.com>,

It's a scam. I had one from a very old friend who was supposedly in the Philippines in the exact same circumstances and needed £2500 urgently.

it is quite a common scam
used by sum bags that hack email accounts.

This is easily done without hacking a email account. Always be sceptical of any email that:

Ask for money
Requests personal information
Includes an attachment 'form' for completion
Directs you to web site via a link (navigate to websites yourself)
Includes social media site links / adds etc.

Over 2/3 of all global email traffic is classified as spam (unwanted but not necessarily malicious emails). Given that many hundreds of billions of messages are sent daily this is a staggering number.

0.004% of all emails are phishing scams aimed at defrauding people, stealing personal information or redirecting to websites containing malicious content (viruses etc.)

3.3% of all emails include a malicious attachment on the message, designed to deliver malware to the client device, or exploit a vulnerability in software to defeat security controls.

If in doubt, don't trust.

My yahoo account was hacked last year with an almost identical story, except he was stuck in a hotel in Madrid, and needed £1600 to pay his bill
If only i could get my hands on them just once ! He'd need £1600 then !

A mate of mine tracked the e-mails to a computer from Yorkshire.

Ian.

I got an email from a mate of mine who was in a brothel in Eastern Europe saying he needed £1,200 before he was allowed to leave!!!........is wasn't a scam

Most originate from China / USA / Taiwan / Korea. Only 5% are sent via a UK Internet Service Provider.

Sounds like a typical Yorkshire scam;)

Remember what they say:-

"You can always tell a Yorkshireman, but you can't tell him much!!"

That reminds me where is Conrad these days?

£1600

That would be one greedy Yorkshireman Ian, when you consider your average Yorky spends 3.75p a day. He be grassed up in no time if he started swanning around town spending pound coins here there and everywhere.
