Guys, I have acquired a set of these scales but they came with no instructions and I have struggled to find a copy on-line.

Can anyone describe the correct way of using them (weighting sequence they use) please?

I know this sounds like a strange question but I am having trouble working out how they work. They could well be broken (or just too sensitive) but I am having trouble zeroing them on a weight sling then trying to weigh something, I can't seem to get them to 'settle' on a weight.

Am I doing something wrong? AS I being too impatient or do I need a trip to the bin?

Hi Lee, I have used a set of these scales for the last five years or so. To weigh a fish turn them on, put the weigh sling over the metal hook and press the zero button. The scales will then memorise the weight of the sling. Take the sling off the scales, put the fish in the sling and pop the sling back on the scales. This will then give you the weight of the fish. I have checked the weight of fish on both my scales and a friends set of reuben heaton scales on several occasions, and have found them to be very accurate. The only thing I do is change the battery on a regular basis. Hope this helps.

When you put the weigh sling on and press the zero how long will the scales memorise this for? i know that the scales have an auto shut off function and you still have to get the fish into the weigh sling and back onto the scales before they shut off..
 
David, John, many thanks for your replies and help with this. How you explained they should work is what I expected (I have a different pair of digitalis and this is how they work). The problem is that they will just not settle, the numbers are constantly changing so I have a malfunction.

I will have to try to dismantle them to see if there is anything obviously wrong inside. I will let you know how I get on.
 
Les that is a common problem if you set of scales doesnt have a hold function. Yours have though.

Update on my 'problem', I opened the casing to find some corrosion around the attachment for the hook. I dismantled the bottom part of the scales and gave them a clean and wire brush (I had nothing to loose as I was going to scrap them if they continued to malfunction). Reassembled everything but the problem with them not settling, even with the 'hold' button activated, remained. Turned my attention to the top area and notices some of the components on the board were touching. I carefully spaced them back out, a quick squirt of lube, reassemble and bingo, one set of working scales. Just go to check they are weighing correctly and I am in business. Thanks for your replies. :)
