Drennan super specialist twist lock L N pole

I feel the same I just don't no what to do now I don't really fancy paying £45 for a pole with known faults but if I buy the bulky gardener one I might as well stick with my old extending pole!!!:confused:

As long as you dont over tighten the twist lock you wont have a problem .
A 1/4 turn is all that is needed to lock it

Hi Joe, had a look on their website this am and they want £45 or so, but the fact that I can collect is a saving, they don't appear to stock the Gardner, which is a pity as I would like to have had a look to compare.

I know Jon hates to haggle over price :) But what the hell:p

Neil there are two tackle shops in Evesham ,Which again is not to far from you ....
Dont know if they stock the Gardner handle ....
 
Mine is a 20 year old ten foot telescopic fibreglass match handle, never let me down yet. But, if it ever does I've got it's twin in my tackle room which I paid a fiver for in cash converters.

Ahh yes Discount Tackle is the one I know, great prices in there and stock all over the place, :) good point I will give them a ring, cheers mate.

As you say Neil ,Stock all over the place :rolleyes: If my memory serves me right the other tackle shop in Evesham is called the Tackle Box ....
You could also give Gloucester Angling Centre a call they stock Gardner
and Drennan Tackle . The no is (01452) 520074
 
Iv been and brought the drennan this morning from fosters, they showed me how to clean and look after it properly and with a bit of care wen setting up/down I can't see any problems but only time will tell!

I agree 440g isn't heavy but the drennan seems a lot lighter I thinks it's due to the locking been on the very end of the pole, at full 3m it seemed a bit top heavy but it is a very nice pole!
 
I don't care much about weight the Gardner's light IMO but it would be my next choice should either of my Keenets Powerstretch's give up the ghost but I don't expect to be buying one for a very long time. Powerstretch's built to last.
 
Another vote for the Gardner, I have been using one the last couple of seasons, nice length and re-assuringly strong, albeit more chunky compared to the Drennan, although 440g doesn't seem a lot it does feel a tad heavy, or more so when at a full extension (top heavy perhaps?) however it is very sturdy, with its twin layer Carbon design and feels built to last, I certainly have no complaints.

Cheers Steve, but I agree that 440g is not heavy what ever that is in Pound Shillings and Pence:) but whatever it has to be lighter than the Ally thing I have with a big blue rubber knob on the end.:eek:
Think I will go for the Gardner if I can find one, but seems like the local 'rep' doesn't believe in making calls....now when I was......:rolleyes:
 
I've been using a Drennan SS for about six seasons now if not more. Yes it some times gets locked up' yes it some times won't lock but if it broke tomorrow would I get another Drennan SS yes.
As has been said already don't over thighten (then it won't lock up) give it a clean now and then (then it'll lock every time) the only time I have a problem is when it needs a clean which I don't do untill I have a problem so it's down to me when I do have a problem because if I cleaned it more problems would not happen.
 
Hi Danny,
just keep it clean and you will not have any problems.
Take the insert out and clean it with a bit of meths, then drop a weight down inside the other part of the pole with a piece of string attached and a small piece of j-cloth soaked in meths and clean the inside...................
............job done.

another great pole is the Hardy four piece telescopic, it's about £50, but it's a great piece of kit, very light, stiff and looks great.
