DRENNAN Specialist rod info

I personally think that the Drennan SS Handle is bomb proof and I’ve had mine for years with regular use. Following every dozen or so sessions I do the following:

1, Remove the internal pole and wipe both it and the internal mechanism down with hot soapy water.
2, Wet a couple of pieces of kitchen towel in the soapy water and push them right through the internal of the outer handle, until the kitchen towel is running clean.
3, Let everything dry out and reassemble after 24 hours.

Obviously if you get the inner pole covered in crap during a session, then wipe it down, there and then.

I’m a firm believer in that if you look after your tackle, it looks after you and will last 👍🏻
What you appear to be suggesting is that it is abrasion caused by bits in the tube that cause the bush to wear down. I certainly do wipe mine but not to the extent you describe! Useful information. 👍

You would think by now they might have improved the locking mechanism on their net pole. I'm on my second one and no doubt the bush will wear out again. I drove over the first one ( not on purpose). Somebody suggested loosening during storage which I'm now doing. Whether this will help only time will tell. I bought the Gardner pole but it's too heavy for my liking hence the second Drennan pole. The other night I had the misfortune to get sand in the pole. I couldn't move it either way for ages then when I did it scratched the inner pole badly. Disappointing.
Have a look at the Tackle Box pole. Equally as good as the Gardner, but much lighter.
