Drennan handle mod ?

Ok, i think its fair to say that this is a pretty good handle except for the crappy locking mechansim, so here's a question for any machinists out there, how about some sort of conversion, i.e. doing away with the cam altogether and making up a PTFE sleeve and lock nut for the top of the female section ? nice and light, would lock the handle easily and reliably, how about it ?

Did it on my Fox Big Fish Stalker which had a similar cam lock arrangement.
I also ( when it was on cam lock) incorporated a anti over extend bit.
Handle shattered some time back, not due to the mods but due to not up to the job!
Cheers

Its like anything else if you look after your kit it looks after you. I have 2 of these pole's and tbh i had one plastic locking piece break because i gave it some one to take down and they seriously over tightened it, and the other problem was it wouldnt lock because it needed a bit of lube on the screw thread and the plastic insert a rub with some emery cloth, through my misuse in not giving it a good fettle after a season's hard graft.
Just give it good clean, lube and a rub and it should be in perfect nick lads, cant see why you are going to so much trouble IMO.

Ive only had it for a couple of months. I just find that it loosens easy and because the water gets into it really easy I believe this makes the plastic bung slide a bit. I would advise taking the extension pole out of the main pole every once in a while to dry out as it can pong after a little while.
