Smoked 16yrs and gave up three years this new years eve.. Only ever missed it when fishing and would also agree it kept the knats away!!

Don't miss it now in fact I hate it and every thing about it lol..

I gave up 5/6 years ago :( Still have to bang my head against a wall every now and then to stop myself from giving in and buying some baccy  I guess when you have smoked for 46 years, it is so much a part of your life that stopping is always going to be hard. Silly old sod :D

Cheers, Dave.

Gave up seven weeks ago, not bothering me any other time apart from fishing, as soon has I sit down after baiting and casting thats when I want one:eek: Agree with the gnats aswel, little gits:eek:

Gave up for quite a while, but took it up again when Blair looked as if he was going to ban it...not that good a reason I know. I am considering taking up fox hunting and getting a 4X4 as well if I can find a banker to fund it.

Giving up smoking is easy, I have done it hundreds of times.

Have given it up again today and don't feel the need. I have been awake for an hour and stopped smoking at 1900hrs yesterday. Not able to fish until Saturday, so watch this space!

Regards

Hugo

PMSL, I've quit too, had my last one at 11.00 last night, been up since 5.00 and still not had one, though I may relent shortly........

I'm not advocating smoking but it can give an under-active angler a slight edge; nicotine is a neurostimulant, as such WILL give a much needed boost of concerntration on a slow day and possibly help you hit a bite that would otherwise have been missed.

That said it won't do your fishing any good being plugged into oxygen to help you breathe.

I take Seven Seas Cod liver oil tablets with Garlic, start taking them in April and stop end of September!

Been doing this for 3 years now and it is three years since I was last got by a Mossy or a Knat.

The little black Storm bugs still get me but I can live with that!:)

arr, tried them, gave up after burbling garlic, not nice.:D

I did not realise how ill I was until I gave up smoking, fortunately I did and I received treatment for the symptoms that were disguised by smoking.

well done simon, keep it up buddy, and think of all the tackle you can buy with the money you save..........;)

I gave up 2 years ago mainly because of the fuel prices, It is around 60 to 100 mile round trip depending on location and i try to get out once or twice a week, fishing or smoking....... simple!!

Used to smoke nearly 50 a day..........stopped cold turkey 6.1/2 yrs ago when I smoked the last one in a 200 box, don't miss em, rarely think about em but don't condemn those who still smoke. Pity those who fought to get it banned didn't support the pubs more which are now closing with alarming regularity up here

Best Regards
Dave

Foul stinking habit

It carried my Mother off, another mate died as a result of it. Yes, your choice to do it. There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes. 51 of them are known to be carcinogenic. If I laid out all these chemicals on a plate and said, "have a little lick of this one" (Cyanide) "and this one" (formaldehyde) and hey only 3998 more to lick! Bet you would think I was mad but people happily roll them all in a bit of paper and put them in thier body.

As mentioned, your choice to do it. Makes me laugh that people give up or try to give up because of "the cost", the ultimate cost, well we all know what that is.

Off Me Soap Box and reeled me neck back in !!
