Disgorger

Senior Member & Supporter
For many years I’ve religiously stuck with 1 discorger type only.
Not the most exciting topic granted but I’ve bought and used hundreds of them over the years and the only ones Ive ever deem worthy of my tackle box are the exceed tools based on the fact they are bright and visible in both white and fluro, Very durable and unlike others these actually 100% stay on the line
I’ve got some with loop tyers on the back too but I prefer the plain discorgers without the tyer when I’m actually using them.

Going back probably 8 or more years ago i noticed they were getting unobtainable and i literally emptied the stock out of Nathan’s in derby to see me out.

I’ve lost afew along the way since then and snapped a couple of the narrow heads over time.
by chance I spotted a seller on eBay last week with plenty of stock of these. I haven’t even considered looking for them since buying a load, thinking I’d never see them for sale again.

So I bought a load more but I was thinking they might just be Micky mouse copies so didn’t want to comment until I’d seen them properly.

They arrived today and they are absolutely 100% the real deal, genuine exceed tools identical in every way to my originals from many years back.

If anyone else is a big exceed discorger or loop tyer fan then your in luck because you can still get them. Maybe you already know that …..maybe they’ve been available for years and I haven’t had a clue 😂

I thought like most brilliant things they were gone for good.
Seller info here.

I think they are copies done on a 3D printer Richard. Nothing wrong with that but i'm sure I remember a conversation somewhere about those disgorgers and how someone had started to do the 3D copies and sell them on ebay.....of course I may be wrong.

I remember when the white exceed disgorgers came out and they were prodly plonked on the counter of my local tackle shop (sadly now closed down) and the shop assistant was raving about them. I did get a couple but found they were to easily bent at the slim section near the top.

For many years now my own personal favourite dizzy has been the drennans. I found them much stonger than the exceed and other types of disgorgers. They also come in bright colours, which is annoying as I can see them floating off for a long way when they slip out of my fingers mid river ☹.

I usually use the larges two sizes and get them for a quid a item from my nearest tackle shop.

If these are copies then hats off to him because they are identical right down to the way the plastic feels and the colour
I’m very impressed that they have got them so close.
I’m quite happy to use copies going forward so long as the original design and quality is the same happy days. I’m chuffed to of found them.

No I don’t like drennan discorgers. They are the same as every other manufacturers and they can slip off the line.

MPH is moulded into the handle of the current ones, my old originals are just smooth so yes they are likely copies as you say.
That’s the only difference I can find with them.
Been over them dimensionally with the verners and they are exactly the same as the originals.
Bloody good copies I must say.

As you say, even if they are copies, if they are of the same stamp and quality then good stuff.
As I said, i'm sure I remember the subject of them being unavailable now and how someone had started to make copies on their 3D printer. I belive 3D printers copy things exactly so it doesn't surprise me that they are identical.
Regarding the drennan models slipping off the line, maybe they do, but I can't say that i've noticed it happening if i'm honest. Possibly me using the specimen model or at a push the next model down in size (the match model) makes the difference ?

Thinkin' back, i'm sure Chris likes those exceed dizzies and possibly he got some from that seller?
I'm sure he will let us know if he clocks this thread.

Still using the disgoger I found on the bank 5 years ago, nothing special about it, in fact, it’s a bad one, slip off the line every time I use it, so always took me a while to unhook a fish.

If this is a nonslip one, I think I will get a few.

They have been on the go for years. It was a patented design when they first come out I’m surprised it was never copied by a manufacturer when the originals ceased production
All it is is a tab situated behind the business end which stops you putting the discorger on the line in line with it. You put them on horizontal to a vertical line and once you then turn them inline they cant physically come off the line. So you slide it down and it always goes over the spade. So simple but brilliant.
As Ian said rightly the narrow ones do break at the neck eventually but they are only useful for tiny hooks. I use the bigger size mostly and they never break.

I’ve seen them with the hole in the side, they look a bit odd. Same principle in use but different design entirely

I agree with Richard, the Exceed disgorgers are the best out there. I used to have the old yellow ones with hook tyer on the end until I broke/lost them in the drink.

I bought a new set Nov last year off Emily on eBay (the white ones, no hook tyer) and they are spot on.

I’m pretty sure they aren’t 3D printed as they have very slight flashing/mould line down the centre.

(If I remember rightly Emily posted elsewhere she had taken over getting them manufactured from someone else in the family. EDIT - parents ran WHT Mouldings in Stockport, she took over after they retired)

That sounds a little familiar, maybe that is what i'd seen on a forum elsewhere in the past, i'm not sure 🤔.

Do you remember where you saw it Daniel?
