I usually leave my leads and weights in water and after time they turn grey rather than shiny silver but i have not made any for a while and wonder if there is a faster way to do this without coating them thanks Alan.

Felt pen?
Mine get a coat of water based contact adhesive (I bought it thinking it was the spirit based one but it works ok) and a ride in the silt box (riddled silt from the Severn).

a bucket of water and a dozen old tea bags does the trick after a week or so.
have you seen what they do to a brew cup......
