For those anglers with Mitchell Reels there is a great website called Mitchell Reel Museum where you can date your reel, a serial number is usually found on the reel foot ( the part that sits against the rod ?) the website has a section that you can reference against, providing you can read the serial number which can sometimes be difficult.

Hands up those that thought this thread was about something totally unassociated to fishing !
