Daiwa SS2600

I have 2 that are QD'd... A local tackle shop did them, it is basically a modification to the spool cap - inserting a brass ring in place of a plastic cap. I had one done initially to try it and have to say side by side there was absolutely no discernible difference between clutch performance....just the QD version was quicker to adjust if that makes sense.
I can fully recommend them for heavy duty river work, as well as close up stalking for carp when clutch performance is very important

Personally I could never understand why lots of people wowed about shimano'stra rear drag. I thought it was awful. However shimano'stra front drag reels are exceptional. I have used variations of shimano 4000 reels in front drag and have never been disappointed. The daiwa match reels also have great drags but to me it's the total package. Having been to the states a few times I may have come across the ss2600 were these branded tournament, I kept trying them again just because I liked the look but never took the plunge. They always felt behind the times but from what people have said I may have another look.

Once you have played a hard fighting fish of the clutch from an SS2600 you will become a fan, it purrs!
