Does anyone know what’s happened to the ss1600 reels? I’m trying to find one for sale online but they are out of stock everywhere, are they discontinued?

I bought one a couple years ago and trying to get a pair, the odd one on eBay is ridiculous money.

Yep discontinued apparently. I just sold mine and bought a pair of shimano 6000 OC. I do like the ss2600 more but there is something so convenient about a baitrunner on the river, particularly if using two rods and it’s dark.

I couldn’t afford to keep both but will miss the clutch, weight and looks of the ss2600. Mine had some Weston upgrades and sold for near enough to cover the new shimanos. It’s just a shame there’s no 5000OC.

Edit - I was talking about the ss2600 but assume they’ve discontinued both.

Thanks Christian, I have a couple of OC's for night fishing with 2 rods, I use my SS1600 for roving mostly. If they're discontinued I might try and get hold of a back up 👍
 
Check out the GS4000.

I have one with the QD conversion. Same size(ish) as the 2600 but supposedly better drag and inners, also available but harder to find in 3000 which I suspect would be a similar size to the 1600??
