I bought two new x4 2.75s last year for the 20/21 season on the strength of my excellent royale 2.25s which in my opinion are superb but on first outing the tip section broke casting only 4 ozs so took back to shop and he gave me a replacement on the second outing the same happened again but as I was doing an overnight I clipped the tip off and carried on only for it to break again lower down. I again returned them back to shop and they where sent back to fox for examination and both came back with new tip sections so they went on to Ebay as they got a vote of no confidence from me only to find two more pairs for sale on ebay so maybe not just me with the problems, on the other hand my mate has a pair of powermesh and they are superb for the price.

Iv got the x4 twin tips that Iv only started using this season and you haven’t filled me with much confidence there lol. Iv only been using the 1.75 tips and been casting 3oz with no problem though

I picked a pair of the Powermesh up last season, predominantly for carping on some very tidal stretches of the Trent, but they have soon found their way to being my rod of choice for barbeling as well, handling 10oz leads, or big loaded feeders comfortably.

Very good value rod for the money.

get the Powermesh rods they are the dogs undercarriage you will love them

Most of my rods are Daiwa for all types of fishing and never had problem before with them I use theory’s at the min for the rivers never had problem with them shop mentioned the x4 to me were I go when asked about the powermesh think I will be sticking to Daiwa now tho

can only speak of my experience of the 2.25s only John yours may well be a different beast but Paul I do Agree with the other lads go for the powermesh if I were you

i have always had a soft spot for all the Powermesh rods and have quite a few in my collection - mainly 1.25tc - 2.5tc

they are excellent and pretty much bulletproof

the only slight drawback is that if you want real distance they do not match up to say the far more expensive Infinity X range (yes, old school rods but arguably considered by many the best long range carp rods Daiwa ever made - AKN 12H owners will disagree as usual, lol)

BUT

Fox have made some superb rods eg the Kevlar Specialist and Kevlar Barbel
