Daiwa Powermesh Barbel 2.75Lb Rod

Hi folks

I have read that Diawa have recently re introduced the Powermesh Barbel 12` 2.75Lb Rod and wondered ?
how different is this purpose built Specialist rod is from a standard 2.75lb carp rod ?
the reason Im asking is I have found out that the stretch of Tidal Trent the club I have joined has will often require the use of 8ozs to 10 ozs leads

and longshot has anyone purchased the Daiwa Powermesh Barbel 2.75Lb Rod ?
and can give some feed back please ?
thanks

Gerry if you've already got 2.75 Carp rods why not use them, the only difference would be down to the blanks action and number of rings probably 8+tip on power mesh and the usual 5 or 6+tip on your carp rods . And Cork handles of course.

I'd suspect that a Barbel rod of 2.75lb would be designed for floodwater fishing and casting 8oz+ feeders/leads. I wouldn't know in the case of this specific rod, but my recent purchase of Fox 2.25lb's are designed for just this scenario and are much stiffer than a pair of 2.5lb Carp rods I own.

A normal 2.75 Carp rod probably wouldn't be up to it.

Another example of when TC's mean nothing!

Yes Bob thats exactly what I was wondering !
I have worked out a different style of casting is required to cast 8ozs and above and got quite good with 6 and 8ozs using my Fox 2.25
but I dont fancy trying 10 ozs with them

hence thinking of selling a couple of carp rods to fund the Diawa 2.75 rods

As someone who has never fished the lower trent, or any big river in flood, I am ignorant about such things. But can you tell me, can you still enjoy the fight of a fish weighted down by this much lead, and is the fish ok after the fight ?
My thoughts are that it must be like hooking a good tench on carp gear, disappointing !
