Dacron

Hi,
I am having difficulty knotting Dacron to a swivel and hook. Can you recommend any good knots.

Thanks

Use a palomar as suggested by Les and make sure you don't cut the tab end too short to allow for a little slippage.

A twice through the eye grinner works well too.

The grinner or palomar knot can be used for either hook or swivel. Even so, try the knotless knot for the hook, very easy to do as this is more a series of simple turns than a knot. Always test the knots before the launch into the abyss.

Cheers, Jon

I recently bought some Gamma fluoro 8lb BS from BFW, and i am also having problems with knots. I have tried palomar, grinner, improved clinch and the knotless knot, but it always breaks, mostly at the knot itself or about 1cm above, or below, depending if i was tying it to a hook or swivel. Initially i thought i was tying bad knots (still not ruled this out), but tried with x-flite fluoro, braid and mono and they were fine. If anyone has any ideas, i would really appreciate hearing them.

Thanks, Steve

Apologies to Tom if i have highjacked his thread.
