Couriers

It's an Interparcel problem, they just won't accept bookings for that area, the actual courier companies will however!

pucklechurch is not even in bristol, it might have a bristol postcode. ie.BS but it's more of a decent size village with a couple of pubs and a youth offenders prison/hostel and a crematorium, cannot think for the life of me why they would not accept bookings for that area, certain parts of inner bristol i could understand but pucklechurch is quite a nice place... strange one that steve..

Update on my Parcel to Go booking experiences.

City Link have managed to lose one fishing rod in a 6ft white plastic square container. Value over £100.

I did insure it luckily but it seems the process of claiming is made as difficult as possible with multiple forms etc to complete and send to them. One would think that the fact that two of their staff have admitted its lost in live chat and copied to them would be sufficient.
It apparently takes 20 days to repay. Strangely it took me 1 minute to pay them for the service initially.

One other city link parcel (Next Day)collected on 12/2 arrived with a customer (A BFW member) on the 17/2..

One other Hermes package has failed to be delivered but it appears that although the address is right the company name as per ebay address given on paypal by buyer is incorrect. They seem to have tried but failed to deliver 3 times, so probably can't be faulted.

The buyer has raised a case so it will be interesting to see the outcome as the company name for delivery given by him was incorrect as now admitted by him. I have told him to contact Hermes on the ebay case.

Its been a real pain.

Bring back the Post office.
how can they lose a 6ft long parcel, It's not like it can drop out your pocket like car keys..lol, more like Nicked.

David. Never been let down by the Post Office.

Unfortunately with only one left out of three locally I have not got an hour free to queue.

Also anything over 5ft is banned.

Sold a rod on e-bay and quoted for courier delivery..
the said rod is going to the isle of wight, duly went to book through interparcel.... errrmmmm computer says no! not with anybody! not to highlands and islands!
luckily enough it's a 3 piece rod so short enough at 140cm long package to go through parcel force.. could have been worse i was only 59p out of pocket, but lesson learnt.. be careful with 6ft long tubes as to where you can post and can't post..
Graham, i was lucky today with the post office, the queue was only just outside the door, usually it's outside the door and round the corner, as usual overflowing with staff in there, a grand total of 2 windows open for service at a main post office, still was better than waiting in all day for someone to collect or maybe not?

After several attempts to book with another courier, including being blown off by one company as fishing rods not allowed!, I got a good deal, including compensation cover for full value with My Hermes. Most other companies wanted an extortionate insurance payment for £250 of cover. Picked up by 1pm today so hope there are no further problems.

i use my hermes for the bigger and heavier parcels, royal mail are fine for a small parcel weighing under a kilo, anything over that and you pay through the nose for it.
i've never tried sending a rod through my hermes because of the maximum length they quote.. 120 cm getting confused now.. how did you manage to send a rod steve?

Yes. I noted the hermes limitation. And insurance up to £250?

How Steve?

They are saying they have found the lost rod and will deliver tomorrow.
Hope so.

I used TNT today for a nxt day delivery. We will see.

Phil. I hate queing to pay money.

Insurance is a con, don't bother, It's so complicated to claim and takes forever.

parcels2go

It was an old cane Avon rod, 3-piece and measured only 120cm packed. The My Hermes price, including insurance, was less than I've been paying for TNT through Interparcel so a good deal as far as I'm concerned.

ps John, Interparcel use TNT, same as Parcels2Go, but they are cheaper!

I work in a goods in department and deal with all couriers. The only one I've never had problems with is Fed Ex. By far the worst one I deal with is City Link. Some things I've seen in the back of there vans Shock me to be honest. How they can treat other peoples goods the way I've seen them treated is unbeleiveable but that said most others are not far behind.
The City link driver told me how much he gets paid and how many drops per day he has to fit in and frankly this really does not leave time for any care or attention so I don't think it's the drivers that are totaly at fault but never the less they could try a little harder in my opinion.
I forgot DPD they seem to take care of goods in my experiance.
Scaz

All my parcels at last have been delivered.

I used P2G with rods thru City Link (useless) and other through Hermes..longer to deliver but cheaper.

TNT delivered nxt day as advertised and even on the Tracking gave the name of who took the parcel in/signed for Next door......thats impressive.

broken rod

My new rod got delivered today a week late and snapped clean in half, the tip and the butt section.... furious, Myhermes the delivery guys most have driven with it hanging out the back door! not totally their fault, the pillock who sold me the rod obviously thought by wrapping the full rod with a piece of bubble wrap and some !!!!! yep uve guessed it, cling film is a great way to protect a £150 rod...
Nice one mate, how many months before i get some money back... :(
