Cork handle protection?

I cork seal all my cork handles !!
You would never know I had done it ,just make sure you use the right stuff,
It soaks in and protects not only the cork,but prevents any filler from dropping out.
If you put two rods side by side ,one sealed one not ,you can't see any difference.

Does my infinity have this applied adam

Here's one of my freespirits, the other is the same setup, i put the tube on before the rods had been used so the cork is brand new , i sealed the ends of the tubeing with clear resin seal so nothing gets in or out to upset the cork, so now at the end of a fishing session i can just run a towel over the handle before it goes into the holdall, now just before everyone starts slating it, i used to fish with open cork handled rods, and now i know what i will do if i have any more rods, but each to whatever floats your boat,

A few float makers seem to think that lacquering over florescent paint diminishes its high-viz qualities. Not sure if this is the case or not but what I took to doing on floats tips is to first prime the tips with white primer/undercoat (coverage on some fluorescent paint is dreadful and needs a base of white otherwise even after three or four coats it still looks like a red/orange colour wash) and then to paint the fluorescent, then lacquer. After this you have a chip resistant finish but then do a last fluorescent coat over the top of the lacquer to improve visibility.
Probably a bit over-faffing a simple painting job, but hey-ho.

Not noticed any lack of viz in those tips I’ve done. They are super bright. The paint itself even recommends to be finished with clear coat. If I didn’t do it it would very likely chip at the edges on banded paint jobs.

Specs on paints / varnish Rich & Hayden would be really useful pls - don't want to screw up my beautiful new beasts!

Btw. If your cork handle looks a little sad, give it a good clean with a Magic Eraser. It works a treat.

I love the look of cork and would never dream of obscuring it. My rods are kept out in the open, so they can dry if wet and breath. Might as well have PVA if you're going to hide the beauty of cork.
