Chub Rova Specialist Quiver

True Paul....but even with these in place the reels are still exposed and vulnerable. So...would something like a lightweight triple sleeve or something not be a better and simpler alternative?

Cheers, Dave.

My Gardner quiver has two built in reel covers, although I must say they just fit around my 4000 size reels. Any larger sized reel I think you'd struggle to secure correctly (another design flaw).

Dave, is it these?

Looks a nice bit of kit. Where do you put your brolli? Think I know the answer. You have a bivvy instead. :)

Judging by the quivers i've owned and their positives, my choice would be a hybrid of the Chub Rova and the Gardner sling.....with an extra pocket so I don't have to carry a bag.

Just stick the brolli in the middle and take two rods. I own the rova quiver and it's a great bit of kit. The only niggle is the rods are a bit tight with tectors on in the bottom pockets but a nice bit of kit and I've been using it three years now.

I noticed they were tight as well but I can live with that.

Hi Paul,

I don't have a Triple S, although it was one of the ones I was considering...and yes, you have spotted the big flaw in them...and Stuart, in the post below yours, has mentioned what most users of it do in answer to that. However, it does beg the question 'What if you wanted to take a third rod?' :D

I think therein lies the main problem with fishing gear in my opinion....99% of it has at least one major flaw or drawback, and sometimes several

I have several rod bags, mostly carp style, and as you know they are WAY too heavy for foot weary barbelers wandering miles of bank :p They offer ultimate protection, and are fine when you are young and strong enough to push a lumping great barrow around, but once your body starts sulking and refusing to do this sort of thing any more...you need an alternative :p

My previous barbel rods were three piece affairs, and I bought a suitable Korum bag which was very nice....but again, too heavy. To add to that, my new rods are too long for that bag....hence my questions and present search.

Cheers, Dave.

And Paul said......

Hi Guys,

If the reel covers are secured by Velcro, then one way round the problem is to use a suitably sized rectangular piece of material with Velcro glued on both sides as an expander panel. Bit of a bodge, but it would work and be reasonably neat. Some of the cheap, wider style rod straps on ebay would do at a pinch.

Cheers, Dave.

was recommended this , and I must say it ticks all the boxes. protects the reels,Iv'e shimano 6000deu , plenty of room for an extra rod if needed.very light and well made, the one only gripe would be the roll up side for banksticks etc, but you could cut this off, anyway take a look for yourselves. space nash rod shuttle | eBay

Here's my slightly modified Chub Rova Quiver

Much better :)

Even without field testing, it can't be difficult to come up with a list of desirables? Just a little lazy IMO :)

Edit: sorry my post related to one on the first page. I'm getting lazy too.
