I have both and would say that the Chimera has the softer top! That's comparing a Chimera 2 compared to 1.75lb Torrix. I would also say that the Chimera has a softer action and I prefer it for the sort of fishing I do, but the Torrix is more versatile and can cope with heavy feeders etc...

Dave Lumb uses Torrix 1.75's for roaching at range and reckons the tip is soft enough to handle 2lb bottoms and size 18 hooks, and he certainly knows his stuff. I know I certainly wouldn't use my Chimera 2's fishing that light.
I love my Chimera 2's and use them for 90% of my barbel fishing, although when lighter leads are appropriate, I think the Harrison Interceptor 2's take a lot of beating. Not very fashionable these days, but fantastic rods imho.
