I reckon with modern CNC machining, it would take a really bad machinist to knock out a reel that didn't perform modestly well. Taking into account most of them, including that one, are bearings.
I don't know if I'm missing something but it seems perfectly usable to me and if the bearings aren't up to much for longevity, a simple fix down the line.
It's light as a feather, no drag but a thumb would solve that and a positive feeling ratchet.
I agree Bob .. I added to bearings as I was recommended to do so to make it smoother for trotting . However it was a perfectly decent pin as you say, for its price.
