Catfish

Does anyone have experience of catfishing? I've never caught one and rather fancy having a go. I hooked one at shatterford yonks ago but it rubbed through the 45lb coated braid.
Could anyone recommend any venues?

Thanks in advance.

There probably are Nick but not in your area, Shatterford is one of the best I can think of, join the CCG forum if you are not already a member. CCG also do as UK cat fishing guide.

Get yourself off to the Ebro in spain, lots of good friends have been and from what i here its amazing. Its not just Cats either, specimen Carp and Roach abound.

Thanks chaps, shatterford is ok but its such a small venue and a little sterile. I checked lakemore and you have to prebook which doesn't suit my current work situation. I don't mind travelling if I have time. I've been looking at celtic lakes in Lampeter has anyone had any experience there?

We have cats in our club lake so I don't really go to the day ticket waters for them. I know Beaver Farm has some big cats in two of their lakes, up to about 70lb last time I looked. If you just want to catch one, I wouldn't bother going with a string of pellets or half a cow on the hook. I've caught all my cats on either double 15mil boilie, or a single 21mil pellet and a size 4 hook. Pretty much just beefy carp tactics. Hold on tight though! One hell of a fight! :)
