Can anyone recommend me a brolly?

I seem to have spent all season lugging my big old brolly around, this year, for obvious reasons. Last night I sat in the rain on the Ribble with the bloody thing leaking all over me, yet again. I couldn't secure it properly because when it was tilted the cord was at the top. That's it. I'm getting a decent one.

Can anyone recommend me one for river fishing? I need it to be ultra light, ultra strong and tiltable.

Thanks in advance.

DONT buy the Thesus lightweight tilitable brolly.

I bought one in the close season and it fell to bits the third time I used it.

Im going to get a Wychwood Solace Brolly, it will be heavy but if truth be known once you've put a brolly up you aint really going to be roving so weight shouldnt be an issue.

Get a golf type of brolly, dirt cheap, so light you don't notice it. You can tuck bags and bits arround and under your chair put up your brolly and hold it to tilt in what ever direction you want, and keep nice and dry. Don't have to worry about pegs and ropes. As soon as the rain stops put it down. It is much easier to be mobile on the bank.

Hi
i can sell you a great brolly Diawa in Black tilt BUT heavy hence why I am selling, its similar to the tournie one.
will sell for £30 :) postage will be extra.
As far as what i use is a cheap light weight for a few hrs or the Korum Fibreshield for longer sessions
hope that helps a little.

How do you play the fish with your rod in one hand and the brolly in the other??? ;)

I got the Waterline Fibrelite grey version on the recomendation of Crooky and i must say that i am very pleased with it! Really light weight, its a 50 inch but seems bigger than my previous one...Thank you Crooky:)

I have a golf size brolly too which I ordered based on an old thread on here. Its got a spike so you dont have to hold it. sorry I can't remember who made it but as always a google search might find it or maybe the person who originally posted will read the thread. For roving they are really good.

dont go for the korum!! fiberglass model..

it keeps closing down on me! wish id gone for the diawa mission brolly now!!

Hi men,

I have the Diawa mission lightweight , really light , nice to carry when roving .

Couple of days ago I trod on it and broke a rib  , typical Hatter . Repairable though, iv also holed it on brambles as well , but it has to go where we go , so will put up with the odd drip :D

This was a common problem on the early models and has been resolved. I would suggest you return yours to the shop you bought it from explaining it is a known problem.

when it started happening to me last year,i asked the shop where i got it from if there had been any probs with them before, and they told me that they have never heard of the problem!!

I had the jrc defender brolly system, it was brilliant for the summer but had to sell it for an all round bivvy.

Hello Andy,

In a split second you can colapse the brolly and chuck it on the ground. With a good army Goretex you will just get a bit damp, and any Barbel is worth getting wet for. You can't play a fish very well from under a fixed brolly so will need to come out in the weather.
