Cameron Bracey's Barbel

Yes i echo Ian's sentiments..Well done young man..:)

Hear, hear chaps....if young 'un was not already hooked on the sport I'm sure he's a life member now !!..... Well done Fella'

Thanks Guys. Appreciate the comments.

Cameron was over the moon with his front page (thanks Andy F). Loved his first few hours on the river - well and truly hooked - i asked him whether he preferred puddle chucking or river fishing - "river dad, we don't know if it's chub, barbel or an eel":D

He actually loved helping landing the fish i and a mate caught as well, we unhooked and let him rest them up before he took them out of the net and released them for us - he even photo'd us with a few each - checking with us that they were ready to go - it helped we were fishing on a large gravel area where we could watch and supervise him - but great to see him understanding what he was doing and why. even telling me when the fish had expelled oxygen etc.

He finished a short 3 hour session 3 barbel and 1 chub.

Problems are including it in a very heavy sporting life - plays for clubs at rugby/football/gymnastics to National Level/Swims:confused: but we will!

Comments are much appreciated.

Great stuff Cameron....very well done indeed. I hope you appreciate how fortunate you are in having an angling dad to guide and encourage you through your angling beginnings and transport you to the venues to practice your skills. By the sound of your outstanding success in an extraordinary range of sports, I get the feeling that you have one busy and very understanding and supportive dad :D

Fair play to you Chris.

Cheers, Dave.

My younger daughter first went fishing with me when she was four. She still accompanies me, when she can, and is 29 years old. On her first trip to the Kennet two weeks ago she caught a beautiful 7lb 12oz barbel, which fought like stink. That fish is far from being her biggest.

Keep at it Cameron!

Regards

Thats where (prob like most) I got the bug from......I remember my dad taking me to the local park (he was a match fisherman at the time) but i started with a piece of wooden beading (as a rod) with some line tied on and a bent nail as a hook (HONESTLY) my brother and I caught numerous sticklebacks on worm - I loved it.

I honestly enjoy taking him all over with all his sports - to play and watch but there is something about taking him fishing......brings back my childhood and is often the place we get to have a really good chat. It helps that he loves all wildlife and really has an interest whilst there learning about the fish/birds and making sure he looks after them before returning.

The good things in life!

Cheers Guys
