Cadence Barbel rods.

I would be interested to hear some feedback from anyone who has used one of these rods. On the face of it they look well designed, particularly the ringing. And that £250 for two rods they could be good value mid-range rod.

Des Taylor has put his name to some rods though over years hasn't he?!

Not often you see K series rings on a mass produced rod. Fair play to them there as they ain’t cheap things to add and they certainly are a nice addition to a barbel rod.
full white tips are a pain in the arse if you ask me. They only stand out properly against a green or brown background and are practically invisible against an overcast sky if you need to point them up beach caster style.
des will put his name on some stuff and not all of it is that great. .. I’m not a great fan of a lot of that pike pro tackle he promotes.

I quite like plain white tips tbh, but I like black and white tips even more. I take your point about having them up beach caster style, but by and large that's not the way I tend to fish. I'm not a fan of getting neck ache!

Me neither mate. I like em practically touching the water in most cases. It’s only really heavy water floods etc I’ll get em up high.
yeah black and white tips rule........ 😎

Always found fluoro yellow and orange combo best for general fishing, low light conditions and against foliage/greenery. You can add a section(s) of white for night fishing.
Just sayin'

Some bits over the years (inc blobs) - excuse the crap photos.

May I ask what you're hoping to replace, with these, Pete, or will these be your only 2lb tc rods?

".... catches that have included up to 20 barbel in a short session"

I'm not sure that says anything about the rod, just that Des had a red letter day on a stretch holding plenty of barbel.

It’s always 100% down to the rod.
mine are total crap! They couldn’t catch a cold in a school on a winters day.

It’s just a dam good job it’s not my fault or I’d have to take up another hobby 😎

Apologies if I’m behind on this thread but they have just released some Des Taylor specialist twin tip rods in 1, 1.25 & 1.5TC
Same spec as barbel rods re rings and reel seats
Look perfect chub rods
Again tempted but cannot justify and at £199 it’s a serious price point- a chunk of money
I have used a couple of their rods for 2 seasons and really good equipment and very happy with them, but the cost vs say Drennan equivalent seduced me in the end. Looks like they are confident enough in trying to go toe to toe with the big brands now?
