I've used pearl barley to bulk it up and add 'contrast'. No idea if it adds to the feed's attraction though.

Years ago while on a french carp fishing trip
I watched a couple of Dutch anglers row out 3 or 4 times to the part of the lake in front of their peg that was heavily weeded and tip god know how much Buckwheat each time into the weed bed sacks and sacks of the stuff
within 48 hours there was a massive clear hole where they had tipped it and it seemed like every carp in the lake was leaping and crashing in their peg they caught a lot of fish !!

It's an old Dutch trick ... feed them loads of highly fermented wheat, get the carp pi$$ed, which will rampage about and become much easier to catch
