Hi Jim,Cutting down the trees would only speed up the flow surely? And I can’t see the farmer spending money to help out with flooding further down stream? And as if it’s as you say now 6ft lower than before, due to flow rate? There’s no reason for it that I can think of? And I thought that even the E.A. Wouldn’t allow trees to be felled during nesting season? What on earth is going on? It’s criminal in my mind, such a shame! Makes my blood boil to see such environmental vandalism, I feel for you and anyone else who fishes the river there as well as the birds etc.
Ahh I seeHi Jim,
Living close to this stretch, the reason for the level being lower is that the downstream weir is broken and stuck open. It's been like that for 18months or so.
That particular sluice gate has been red carded. This is a permanent situation.Hi Jim,

If it’s going to be a permanent situation with the levels to stay lower, do you think that they’re going to re plant with willows at the water line to help slow down the flow in times of high water? That particular sluice gate has been red carded. This is a permanent situation.
