Bloody typical

Earlier this year after much searching I managed to get hold of a mint 11ft series 7 puddle chucker pellet waggler rod to use for trotting on a small local river which holds some good sized chub amongst other things. Used it today, had a couple of small fish then got the tip stuck in a hawthorn, managed to extract it but one of the BB’s twanged against the blank and the rod is now a three piece. Words and plenty of them did not diminish my anger! So 2025 back to the search for a small river rod with just enough backbone!!
As an aside I used a small lead and different rod and caught a bullhead, not seen one since I was in short pants……it almost cheered me up!
Hope everyone has a good Christmas and that Santa equips you well for 2025

A bullhead blimey used to get one a chuck at st Neots town stretch of the ouse….. but that was 45 years ago

Get your local Drennan stockist to get in touch with Drennan. They may have spare parts for your rod. I got a quiver carrier earlier this year for one of my Avon/Quiver tip rods. Although they are now discontinued they still carry spares for a while..

Happy memories of bullheads. Used to catch them with my hands in the local stream. I'd like to think they're still there. 🙂

There is a small river I fish (possibly same river as you) where an 11ft rod would be an advantage over my current Acolyte Ultra 13ft compact.

I did, however, partially solve this recently by forgetting to take the 12" section of the handle that screws in below the reel seat. 🤣

I hear good things about the Cadence range and they currently have their CR10 11ft #2 rod on offer at £100 until new Year's Eve.

I have one of their other rods and have to say the fittings are high quality and finish excellent.
