Ive used a few nets before and the Gardner net is the one I use now, I think its the best net out there.....

As for ease of transport, whats wrong with gripping the net in the same hand that your carrying the bait bucket in?? Simples..... :D

Nice looking net, as said deep enough to allow fish some recovery time lightweigh, just unscrew handle for fish weighing etc, does the net dry fast? What would you store the wet net in when in the car boot???

After finally getting a few fish in mine I can actually comment on the thing.;)
Strong enough? Most definitely. Just be aware of those self loosening screws.
Large enough? I'd love to catch a barbel that was too big for it!;)
Easily carried? Not particularly but I can't say that it's a big drama. Don't expect to get any kind of net/wet bag to fit, that's for sure. Best suggestion I can make for transporting it wet would be a bin bag.

I've carried it in three ways and settled mainly on one method.
1) Tried leaving it on the landing net pole slid into my holdall.A pain. Catches the wind, trees, undergrowth etc. Makes carrying the holdall unnecessarily awkward.
2) Tried carrying by hand. No dramas other than damp/smelly hands if it hasn't had time to dry.
3) Hooked over the top of my shoulder slung bits bag.
The latter is the way I tend to do it. I will occasionally carry in hand though, particularly when it's still damp.
Dries quickly? Not especially but it's not particularly bad. Each time I've used the net it's been a reasonably long walk back to the car. By the time I've got back the net has been all but dry.

Hope that answers some of your questions.;)

If anyone has the matching Gardner landing net pole I'd be interested to hear about it. I couldn't find one to even look at and ended up with the Drennan Super Specialist which seems to be fantastic.;)

I have one of these. The only thing i dont like about it, is that the mesh is too big. When you have a fish in the net, your hair rigged bait, goes through the mesh and can cause quite a few problems when moving the fish in the net.
I use a Korum rubberised spoon net that has been improved, by fitting a stainless 3/8bsf screw thread, instead of the brass thread, which has broken twice for me.

I've had the same problem as Jon with hair rigged bait going through the net, and the mesh is magnetic, it's attracted to every root, twig or snag in the area. And yes it's a bit awkward to carry. But these are minor issues for me, I'm very happy with it and if I lost it, I'd happily buy another.

N.b. I superglued the the original screws in place and have had no trouble with them.

Hiya Chris, Ive got the Gardner handle m8.

Its a very strong handle and the threaded adjusting mechanisum works well. When fully extended its longer than my last handle, which at times is very handy. Ive been using it for about a year now with no problems at all. Id reccomend it in an instant!

Hope this helps

Graham.
