BFW Muharran week.

After the last few weeks of BFW
Scientific discovery And the competition of who can make the most Godliness out of their abstinence from fishing I suggest
Now a bit of rain has arrived, that those that can go the longest without fishing get a gold award and that anyone that does go fishing in the next month should be forced to attend a local Muharran meeting.

I would like to go, but currently under house arrest.

It would be nice for some normality to be resumed.
I understand this is a forum and a place for peoples views to be aired but some of the back biting comments nearly drove me away from BFW,,,,
Every river across the country is different, I know I've fished a few. My local Hampshire avon has been in resonable condition with good flow on the stretch Ive been fishing and absolutely no signs of fish concern.
If my local river was the lower Severn or Warwickshire Avon then I would have probably walked away from them for a few weeks but I understand there will be areas on these where good flows belows weirs are evident and may have appeared okay to fish.
Some just think they have the right to berate others to make themselves look good for doing so...... Bloody egos are probably more important than fish welfare.
Let the rain continue to freshen up all our rivers to allow anyone to fish without being torn to pieces.
Happy hunting to all and lets continue to give respect to any fish in any situation or river condition

I’m hoping for great spiritual reward given it’s not obligatory to fast during Muharram month although I would need to confess to spending some time walking the banks and I even moved my fishing rod and some feeders from one corner of the shed to the other because it looked tidier. It definitely felt a bit dirty after that. Some acts of fishing bulimia squared that a way hopefully. Obviously it’s not really possible to claim godliness credits after July 23rd when lots of fishing was suspended anyway.

Rain has come and hopefully it won’t be too long before normal service resumes.

Ditto your comments, John. 'Holier than thou', 'moral high ground' and 'jumping on the bandwagon' are but a few phrases that describe some of the views aired on BFW lately. Thinking that one rule applies to all rivers and conditions is just lazy thinking really.

Yes I'm looking forward to getting the barbel rods out again, these last few weeks of self imposed restraint, of having to fish for other species, has left me feeling like one of Fritzel's children.
Anyone recommend a good councillor?

There should be an article in one of the rags in the next week about the fantastic fishing on some stretches of the Warks Avon.
Well known angler. Certainly produced well a couple of days after.

Still can't get my head around other well known sponsored anglers, quoted, who have been battling for the end of a close season, coming all high and mighty (as usual) that is even more hypocritical.

IMO that could lead to a far greater loss in terms of fish recruitment and long term damage than the recent problems.

Here here John couldn't agree more. I personally hate any confrontation to much in the world at large.
