BFW Articles and Reviews

So good old Des is knocking out a bait which is easier and cheaper to manufacture than round baits and is charging £3.99 for what looks like a small pack, how many grams do you get for that? :)

250 grams but you were too slow, Steve has already offered ME the free bait and Mark has second refusal....

You'll just have to go and buy an Angling Times or two.

Another waste of time so called miracle must have bait!

I added this review, as I add all reviews and articles on here. I for one don't think it's a waste of time - whatever the subject and whether I agree/disagree with the review I choose to spend my time for Andy and for BFW. Many of us have over 10 years of history with BFW and do on occasion get fed up with "new" folk and negative attitudes.

If you don't agree with the review then do us the courtesy of ignoring it and making no comment at all.

ps. Yes, ate a wasp or two today :)

Steve,
Thanks for the review, always good to read of something new on the market even if I wont use it.

Unlike a lot of people Steve, those of us who know you know you actually use the bait not just talk about it;)

Shame others spend more time talking than doing....

Don’t really fancy doing that Colin! £3.99 for 250g is not for me anyway, far better baits available for well under that price and the chances are you won’t be using the same bait as the ''Anglers'' who buy AT every week!

My opinions are not a dig at Steve or his review in any way, just an observation of how anglers are being had by a semi clever marketing strategy. :)

Bring that above bait down to our neck of the woods, and I can guarantee the results wont be anything to write home about, our fish are not as plentiful as those of the Severn/Trent, and with so much bait going in anyway the fish can afford to be choosy!!:)

Don't presume this to be the case.;) I use a bait that goes pretty well on the Swale. Sadly, on the Trent, it's decidedly average despite the far greater head of fish.

I've just removed a couple of posts that I consider embarrassing for BFW.

Thanks for taking the time to do the review Steve. I'd love to see more of this sort of content on the site. I hope the reaction of some to something as conventional as a product review doesn't hinder this!

Hi men,

Andy , iv said to you in tha past , the review / article section is like an online mag for all BFW members . The addition of people posting pics that end up on the gallery is nice as well . I hope this does not put off people making reviews , or writing articals. The review by scuba was fairly strait forward , described the product , gave a situation where he caught on it , and gave his opinion on the product . It's up to the reader if they buy it , as always . Bait will alway be subjective , with strong opinions all round , but nice one Steve , look forward to more .

Hi men,

As a thought to the above post , I have talked to people who have never even clicked the article / review button at the top ???.

Mark, Hear hear.......if some on here spent more time fishing and less time giving their expert opinion they may be worth listening too...but only sometimes;)

How did they embarrass bfw,Andy?

Because if we can't publish an honest product review on our own website without getting criticised by our own members for doing it, BFW isn't the place I want it to be.

If you have any issues with any of the many reviews posted here:

https://barbel.co.uk/reviewsfr.htm

please let me know, won't you?

Colin,

they are actually free at the moment, via an offer in Angling Times.
Well, I say free, you have to pay the P&P.

Maybe you'd like to take up this offer, use the bait, then post your own review on BFW......

Tell you what, I'll send you a couple of free packets, just PM me your address.... I'll even pay the P&P myself....
Then we can all look forward to your review on the product......

Steve

Steve, I don't buy the Angling Times, so am reliant on you putting your "money where his mouth is" so too speak.

Like I said though, I'd need a kilo to offer anything like a fair appraisal.
If possible, I'd prefer a subtle flavoured option, as it'll be used in warm, low but rather stale water. Sqiddy perhaps.
Though if you want, feel free to throw in a bag or two of the Frankfurter Stix and I'll do a follow up review in flood or cold conditions.

No worries about the hemp and pellets, I've got that covered.

PM me your address over Colin and I'll see what I can do for you......
Unsure why you feel you need a kilo of hookbaits tho, I'd say your been just a little greedy......

Marks bait is already on the way, as he has pm'd me his address....

Steve, I have PM'ed you a delivery address. I must say that you seem to have a very closed mind regards bait usage, if you feel I'm being greedy then just send one pack and if I fail to catch using it, what could I say......... Caught **barbel on pellets and nothing at all on the Serious Barbel Bait, hmm, seems you don't want a fair appraisal?

As I've said, I'll be testing it on the Lower Severn and I'll try to remain as objective as possible. The session will be a 72 or 96hr stint, with the SBS bait being directly compared to a Dynamite Baits boilie and maybe you don't think my approach is the best way but its worked well for me.

Are you suggesting the SBS baits are so effective that there is no need to put any free offerings out, simply put out a single hook bait and it'll draw the fish from far and wide? Or just put a few pellets out and fish the SBS bait over the top??

Like I said Colin, I think you are been just a little greedy.
Everyone else who has contacted me have been grateful for just a pack......or some advice....

I'll send you a pack to the address supplied, and if you want more I suggest you contact Des Taylor at SBS baits.
I'm sure once he know its you he'll go out of his way to supply you with what you want....

As for having to camp out for 92 hours just to catch a few Barbel, well that's a whole new topic......
You do know that there is no night fishing at Severn Stokes.... so assuming your fishing from dawn to dusk, that's 12 hours divided by 92 hours, that 7 days +.... WOW

Steve

Ooh - if yer offering I'll have truckload down here please Steve. ;)

Deano - I need some Severn advice - how do you keep your mobile phone dry whilst fishing ?
No point asking scuba :p
