Bennetts of Sheffield closed down

Me too with more special offers. The links in the email don't work though. So they shut the website down but forgot to shut down the email server.

Very sad. Maybe the Angling Trusts new 'partner' Angling Direct can take it on!
ATr and its 'partner' seem intent on seeing off the little tackle dealers who have served anglers well over the decades. And the ATr will still expect the little shops to promote them

As it says on the latest newsletter, its a no-brainer!

Still hold good on BFW

I bought a fair bit of gear from Bennett over the yars, and the free credit was helpful at times.

Bosfish rip

So now its the Angling Trusts fault - unbelievable (is there anything they don't get the blame for?)!!!!

I've been fishing for over 30 years and well remember as a kid, the back pages of Angling Times and Anglers Mail, which advertised Bennett's tackle offers and 'complete fishing kits', much of it at the budget end of the market. To be honest this has been their problem as the image they had 30 years ago, they still had it today, including the dated logo of a yellow flag with black writing. They also advertised a lot of high end tackle at RRP, when it was easily sourced from other retailers at a discounted price. I last ordered from them around 5 years ago, and thereafter I got bombarded with junk mail (post) including their latest offers, none of which I was interested in i.e. the same old complete fishing kits. To be honest the amount of junk mail that came through the door was very annoying!!!

They just haven't moved with the times, as other successful tackle shops have i.e Leslies of Luton. Not surprised in the slightest that they have gone bump, and I for for one wont be shedding any tears over it!

Correct - adapt and survive (or not as in this case)
I used them twice in 40 years - in both cases they sent the wrong item! Hardly surprising they went bust, especially given Climax Tackle in the same city.

what they should of done is gone mail order only, shut the shop, and concentrate on buying high quality tackle in bulk and giving discounts.
