Barbel Specialist Group

Dave Burr

Senior Member
I have just heard that Dave Mason is stepping down as secretary for the group as a result of his personal circumstances.

I would like to say an enormous thank you to Dave for all of his hard work in organising the group over the last few years, he has been the linchpin of everything that they have achieved.

I'm sure they won't mind me saying this on their behalf.
Good luck and good health Dave M; in all you do in the future, from your friends at The Barbel Society

Dave's enthusiasm for barbel will be a great loss to the Barbel Specialists, well done on what you achieved doing it mate, its definately something to be proud about ;)

Not to mention his enthusiasm for Lampreys! I must admit to not knowing (or particularity caring) about Lampreys, until I was lobbied by Dave. Really knowledgeable, interesting and enthusiastic for this remarkable species. I came away a firm convert to the Lamprey cause after a fascinating hour spent with Dave.
Thanks mate...I have yet another subject to discourse on when non fishing mates start discussing such issues as Golf, Grandchildren, Mortgages etc.. They will hate you for it, but I am grateful:D

Dave Mason, Lovely Man, Great fisherman,Dave Thanks for all your hard work for The Barbel Specialists,

Regards Ray Thorpe

A great many words said about this unique man and all of them true, Daves over exuberance in all things fishy are a credit to the sport, not to mention his wicked sense of humour.
It is a shame that he has retired as secretary but i completely understand his reasons, its his time now so go run free mr mason and enjoy life:D

Well done mate

The Main Man

Dave has been a fantastic asset to the Barbel Specialists from the start and he will be a hard act to follow. He has organised everything including our fabulous talks and slideshows every year with great speakers and venues, as well as keeping the barbel river records fully up to date.
Dave will continue to update the barbel records for the time being until a suitable replacement to do this continuous work is found.
He has forwarded the group no end with his hard work and we are very proud of him.
Dave will still be coming to the meetings when possible, so he will still be involved and contributing to the group with his vast knowledge and expertise.
Dave deserves a well earned rest and should be congratulated and applauded for his relentless services and important input into the Barbel Specialists, as well as barbel angling and conservation in the UK.
Thank you Dave for everything you have done and believing from the start.
You are a great friend and loved by everyone, everywhere.
Best Regards….Ray Walton
