Barbel Fishing in the Netherlands

I'll be fishing for some Dutch barbel in the not too distant future.
From what I've read, the barbel fishing scene over there is pretty quiet but has a small band of devoted enthusiasts.

What I'm trying to understand is rules with regards to fishing permits. It seems I have to be a member of a club before I can get my Vispas, or fishing permit. But whenever I look at a club website, there's no mention of which waters I can fish and club rules re fishing times seem pretty hazy.

Does anybody have any experience of barbel fishing in the Netherlands? Can somebody explain to me how their Vispas and club systems work because it seems very different to here.

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Hello Dave there are two Dutch barbel websites in the link section on BFW home page. They could be a good starting place. Also google Team Barbel Ade Kiddel has blogged about his trips to Holland and they make interesting reading.
