Barbel decline in the Upper Teme

I helped someone do their PHd in relation to Pike in the 1970s at Birmingham university, all interesting stuff. Ironically it involved taking scales from the shoulders of fish like they are doing with Barbel. Simplistically the scales when dried read like the rings on a tree and compared with similar aged fish from different waters you can compare growth rates etc. I say simplistically before the soap boxes get lined up.
