barbel alley hampton loade

hi, newbie here from london
anyone know what the stretch to fish is at barbel alley?
took a trip up there over new years with a view to walking along the river to suss it out but waking up in the morning and me knee had swollen up so that was the end of that trip out!, made it to the carpark by the blue bridge and its was just binoculars from there :rolleyes:
where are the swims from there?, tried calling the bailiffs number on the site over a few days at different times but never got an answer
any advice or tips would be good as its seems so difficult trying out a new venue for the first time..or even finding it!

Don't know what you've been told, but barbel alley refers to anywhere Bridgnorth to Bewdley! So take your pick!
 
the car park I found had signs saying "barbel alley fishing" and was by the blue bridge with the water treatment place on the other bank?

its a bit misleading that google map on there website as it shown the east bank but the directions and car park are on the west bank! just adds to the confusion of it all driving up and down single track lanes in a huge campervan :)
so although i found the signposted car park im still none the wiser :confused:

Simon, call into or ring this tackle shop, they are very friendly people and will give you all the help and advice you need. They have a map on the counter, covering the river for many miles. Showing which parts are day ticket, free fishing etc. They get lots of information from the local anglers, as to where is fishing well etc. Good luck. :)

Barbel Allley is a stretch just upstream of the Unicorn Inn.

Its opposite BAA 'Hampton Loade left bank', and directly upstream of Kinvers stretch at the Unicorn.
You access it, either from the Unicorn Inn camping field, or the car park by the blue water pipe bridge on the drive down to Chelmarsh Reservoir.


Its typical middle Severn fishing.

Barbel alley is owned by a scouse chap called Pete Truman drinks in the unicorn, he's a lovely chap, had loads of advice off him, also a keen barbel fisherman, knows Hampton river very well.

the unicorn inn:rolleyes: only realised yesterday that was what i was looking at while up that way..heard lots of bad reviews of the site there and actually thought from what i was looking at it was a travellers site..wont be staying there:D
 
Simon, your bang on. People TRAVEL from all over the country, stay for a week or two, catch LOTS of barbel. Then TRAVEL home again. :rolleyes:
